Open Constellation

As the leader of WP2, Open Cosmos will oversee the coordination of activities with its partners for the deployment of three state-of-the-art high-resolution satellites. These satellites are integral components of the Open Constellation.

Taking a comprehensive approach, Open Cosmos will manage the entire satellite integration process, covering design, manufacturing, testing, and operational aspects, all to be executed in Portugal. This strategic initiative is designed to achieve full integration with local partners, fostering stronger ties and contributing to the consolidation of the Portuguese space ecosystem.Collaboration with project partners will drive advancements in mechanical design, electronics, subsystem maturation, payload development, satellite testing capabilities, and the application of satellite data in various scenarios.

Under the NextGeneration EU programme, Open Cosmos is not only committed to technological advancements but also to playing a key role in bolstering the commercialisation prospects intrinsic to the future trajectory of the space sector. Through active engagement in Portugal, Open Cosmos aims to maximize impact, ensuring that its activities align with and amplify broader objectives outlined in thePortuguese Space Strategy and extend to projects beyond national borders.
