Earth Observation Studies

WP9 is dedicated to identifying opportunities and challenges, developing approaches, and issuing recommendations for the Earth Observation (EO) sector across four key areas:policy and legal, economic, technological, and social.

Led by the law firm Vieira de Almeida & Associados (VdA), WP9 collaborates with GEOSAT, NOVA, and CoLab + Atlantic.

The work package aims to produce four integrated products within PPS 7:

• EO Report: This report seeks to identify current trends in the EO sector, explore opportunities arising from the future evolution of selected market sectors, analyse policy and legal frameworks, and address technological, market, and legal challenges associated with EO satellite missions. The report also aims to facilitate the dissemination of satellite images;
• EO Solutions: The objective is to develop approaches for products, services, processes, and legal, social, technical, and market models to promote EO activities, enhance the use of satellite images, and support the business objectives of partners;‍
• EO Guide: This component aims to establish principles, guidelines, criteria, and processes for the creation, processing, dissemination, and use of EO systems and data, aligned with predefined methodologies.‍
• Feasibility Study: The focus is on assessing the potential and viability of the Atlantic Constellation and Digital Planet. This study will be based on the products developed and will evaluate competing or complementary solutions.
