WP3 encompasses the development, integration, and launch of satellites constituting the Portuguese component of the Atlantic Constellation. These satellites comprise Very High Resolution (VHR) optical Earth observation (EO) satellites, as well as High-Resolution (HR) optical EO satellites.
The outcomes of this phase align with the primary contribution of the New Space Portugal's PPS2- the High and Very High Resolution Atlantic Constellation.
Given their significance to the Agenda's objectives, these platforms will be developed with a focus on payloads. Optical sensors will be meticulously chosen to ensure optimal observation across the RGB, panchromatic, and near-infrared (VNIR) bands, meeting current market needs and those of institutional users, informed by the operational experience of satellite operators.
Activities within this WP will be conducted by beneficiaries in Portugal, incorporating a robust knowledge transfer component and attracting foreign direct investment from international strategic partners.
This work package directly advances Portugal's recognition, solidifying its business and academic fabric as a center of excellence for Earth observation and monitoring from space.
